Prof. Annette Hillebrandt as a panelist at the opening festival of WEtransFORM at the Bundeskunsthalle Bonn

On June 5, 2025, the Bundeskunsthalle Bonn opened the WEtransFORM exhibition with a two-day festival focusing on sustainable architecture and urban development. As part of the opening program, Professor Annette Hillebrandt from the Chair of Building Construction, Design and Materials Science at the University of Wuppertal discussed the role of architecture and culture in the context of climate change on a high-profile panel.
Together with the renowned climate researcher Hans Joachim Schellnhuber from the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) and Ruth Reichstein from the European Commission (New European Bauhaus), Prof. Annette Hillebrandt exchanged views on sustainable perspectives for the built environment. The discussion, moderated by Sven Sappelt, was part of the “Climate Change, Architecture and Culture” forum and formed one item on the diverse festival program.
The event took place in cooperation with the EU Commission's New European Bauhaus Initiative and attracted numerous guests from the worlds of science, politics and design - from mayors and international architecture firms to interested citizens.
Prof. Hillebrandt was accompanied by a film team led by director Lisa Eder. The footage was shot for the cinema and further education film “Part of Nature”, which will be released in cinemas next year.
